Op 8 november wordt wereldwijd de negende Internationale Dag van de Radiologie (IDoR2020) gevierd. Op deze datum ontdekte Wilhelm Röntgen in 1895 de röntgenstraling. In 2020 zal de Internationale Dag van de Radiologie in het teken staan van alle beeldvormende professionals en hun essentiële rol in de strijd tegen de COVID-19-pandemie. Zij leveren een onmisbare bijdrage aan de diagnose en behandeling van COVID-19-patiënten. De European Society of Radiology (ESR) omschrijft dit als volgt:
For IDoR 2020, we have chosen the motto ‘Radiologists and radiographers supporting patients during COVID-19’. With this phrase, we invite everyone to celebrate the critical role that medical imaging has played during the current crisis. On this important day, we ask imaging professionals across the world to pause for a moment, look back at their hard work and the challenges they have faced over the past months, and recognise their own contributions and those of their colleagues and friends.
De Internationale Dag van de Radiologie is een jaarlijks terugkerend evenement met als doel een groter bewustzijn te creëren van de bijdrage van radiologie aan goede patiëntenzorg.
